The Collector - Alien Attack

  1. ALIEN ATTACK - A black ink and black color pencil drawing on an 11 x 14 size coquille paper. It appeared in the fanzine, "The Collector".

It is interesting to me, to learn what other artists who are not part of the world of science fiction and fantasy art, think about the subject.

Sometimes they disappoint me, as does Dora Mathieu, a famous fashion artist who was quoted in an art magazine, "I like to do life drawing, portraits, fashion, still life. I am not moved to draw men on the moon or rocket ships or such, and I agree with Robert Graves (famous writer) who says men should stay on Earth and absorb".

Here are two intelligent and talented people with obvious blind spots in their thinking. They not only disregard all the rest of the universe as proper subject matter for artistic interpretation, but Graves thinks that all artists should ignore the rest of creation and concentrate only on earthly subects for inspiration.

I learned a long time ago that intelligence does not automatically infer wisdom.
